Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What is RefurbMiner Pool?
RefurbMiner Pool is a cryptocurrency mining pool that allows miners to combine their computational resources to increase the chances of finding blocks and receive steady rewards. We currently support mining for VRSC (Verus), CHIPS, VDEX, and VARRR cryptocurrencies.
How do I start mining?
To start mining with our pool:
- Choose a mining software compatible with your hardware
- Configure the mining software with our pool address and your wallet address
- Run the miner and monitor your performance on our dashboard
You can find detailed mining commands on our homepage.
What are the pool fees?
RefurbMiner Pool charges a 1% fee on all mining rewards. This fee helps cover the costs of running and maintaining the pool infrastructure.
When will I receive payments?
Payments are processed automatically every 24 hours for balances exceeding 0.1 VRSC (or equivalent for other cryptocurrencies). Smaller balances will accumulate until they reach the minimum threshold.
PPLNS Payment System
What is PPLNS?
PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Shares) is a payment method used by mining pools to distribute rewards to miners. Unlike PPS (Pay Per Share) which pays a fixed amount for each valid share submitted, PPLNS rewards miners based on the number of shares they've contributed over a period of time, typically determined by the "N" factor.
How does PPLNS work?
When a block is found by the pool, the reward is distributed among miners who contributed shares during the last "N" shares period. This means:
- Rewards are based on your contribution over time, not just at the moment a block is found
- More consistent miners receive more stable rewards
- Short-term mining or "pool hopping" is discouraged as it may result in lower rewards
Why does RefurbMiner use PPLNS?
We use PPLNS because it:
- Rewards loyal miners who contribute consistently to the pool
- Provides more stable long-term rewards for dedicated miners
- Creates a fair distribution system based on actual contribution
- Prevents pool hopping and maintains a stable hashrate
How is my PPLNS reward calculated?
Your reward is calculated using this formula:
Where:
- YourShares: The number of valid shares you submitted during the PPLNS window
- TotalPoolShares: The total number of shares submitted by all miners in the PPLNS window
- BlockReward: The cryptocurrency reward for finding the block
- PoolFee: Our 1% pool fee
Is PPLNS better than other payment systems?
PPLNS is generally better for consistent miners who maintain a stable hashrate. Over time, PPLNS often provides higher returns than PPS for loyal miners. However, it may have more variance in short-term rewards compared to PPS systems.
Technical Questions
What does "worker offline" mean?
A worker is considered offline if it hasn't submitted any shares for 5 minutes or longer. This could indicate connectivity issues, miner software crashes, or hardware problems.
What is "luck" in mining?
Luck represents how quickly the pool is finding blocks compared to statistical expectations. A luck value of 100% means the pool is finding blocks exactly as expected based on its hashrate. Values below 100% indicate better luck (finding blocks faster than expected), while values above 100% indicate worse luck.
How do I optimize my mining setup?
To optimize your mining:
- Ensure your hardware is properly cooled to prevent throttling
- Configure your mining software with optimal settings for your hardware
- Use a stable internet connection to minimize share rejection
- Update your mining software regularly to benefit from performance improvements
